Must see Great place to go with family with kids. Lots of Artsy shops with crafts if kids want to keep busy. The prices are a bit higher than other shopping areas in Seoul but still relatively reasonable.

Fun place! Insa-dong is full of charm and character! Wandering through its streets, I discovered beautiful traditional crafts, tea houses, and art galleries. The mix of history and modern energy is so unique. It’s the perfect place to feel the soul of Korean culture, which is absolutely delightful!

Great Neighborhood You can find a great deal to do in the bustling neighborhood. There are museums, palaces, temples, and shopping all within easy walking distance. We stayed in two different parts of Insadong and it was a perfect spot for our time in Seoul.

Artsy Chic Charm Insadong was one of the most interesting areas we explored. The main street, Insadong-gil, is lined with shops selling traditional crafts, tea houses, art galleries, and restaurants, while the smaller alleys hold the real gems—from modern galleries to cozy tea shops.
Historically, it was Korea’s largest market for antiques and artwork. Elements of its past are clearly still retained through its modernization, with its cultural charm shining through. Exploring the backstreets with our local tour guide felt far more authentic and gave us a glimpse of the “real” Insadong.
With its eclectic mix of venues, styles, and price ranges, Insadong has something for everyone. It’s a great place to stroll, discover, and soak up Korean culture—trendy yet full of character, and well worth a visit.

Good street to walk about Insadong is not only a district but also a well known street that has a bit if everything. Has restaurants and quaint little shops to buy and see. Some of the prices were high in comparison to the Namdaemun Market. Us good to walk about and visit the stores

Bourbon Street of Seoul This is the commercial tourist district of Seoul in the shadows of Gyeongbokgung Palace. This district is full with shops and restaurants for visitors. Some are the most trendy trinkets but some are all treasures of Korean culture. All of it can be found in this street and district. Plus, this is Korea so there are all kinds of Comic statues for you to pose with. The Koreans thought I did a perfect job of mimicking there running man statue down to my blue coat. However, we were also introduced to the candy making art of dragon beard. It is delicious and they make it right in front of you on the street if you are in Seoul, take the time to visit.

Leisurely and fun walk. Insadong-gil is a fun street to browse. Mostly pedestrian, some delivery trucks and taxis do drive thru, but not an inconvenience. The beginning of the street from Jong-ro to way up past the bend is under redevelopment and a nuisance, but past that it is worth the walk. Lots of small local specialty shops, restaurants, coffee, and tea shops. A couple of multi level mall like buildings and a Haribo store and Starbucks. You might run into street performers and candy making. There were two bakery/cafés on the strip before the pandemic but unfortunately they are gone. Definitely a worthwhile visit.

Loved it Isadong - it took us 10 minutes walk to get there from our hotel in Myeongdong - it was everything it promised to be - great authentic streets, excellent shopping, sublime street food. We bought an amazing wood-carving print from a Master - little shop on the main street (not stalls) which we framed and love seeing in our home.
Everything was really well priced and it didn't feel touristy or over-crowded at all.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Touristy but… Old school shopping area with cafes, ice cream, coffee stores, art galleries and shops. It is full on touristy with palace and nearby museums. New buildings and old.
Some upscale, some not.
Better to go far inside and get away from crowds of tourists (like me).
stopped in at a cafe that seemed to be locals. I was only tourist. Order and pay off a machine with photos and menu in Korean or English depending on the button ya push pork cutlet with pepper and a fanta is about 15,000.

Perfect for souvenir shopping… Insadong is one of my favorite shopping streets in Seoul for souvenir shopping. It has many stores, restaurants, coffee & tea houses, etc., and it’s perfect for taking a leisurely walk along a pretty tree lined street. It has many side streets full of restaurants which will take time to explore. It’s conveniently located near Anguk subway station and not far from Myeongdong.

Typical Shopping Street-Area There are many pedestrians-only shopping streets/areas in many cities, such as the Istiklal Caddesi (Street) in Istanbul, the Rambla in Barcelona which to me have more energy and excitement.
Personally I prefer the Ikseon-dong Hanok Village which has more soul and atmosphere.
Here you will find more galleries, clothing stores, stationery stores and gift shops.
A good place to spend an afternoon if one has nothing better to do.

Very nice! This is a lovely street not far from the Main Palace of Gyeongbokgung. The street has nice shops with Korean souvenirs. Most shops sell cheap and not impressive souvenirs; however, there are some stores that sell delicate, fine, and expensive Korean souvenirs.
Restaurants are quite good and with an eclectic, casual atmosphere. We visited in the evening. It was relaxing. There were many Koreans and some tourists focused on last minute shopping. The street is not too long. It is 4-6 blocks. I recommend exploring the little lateral streets. You will find the best restaurants and shops in those.

Good place to experience Korea Insadong-gil is a good place to experience Korean traditions.
If you walk along the antique road, there are many souvenir shops and hanok cafes.
In the National Palace Museum of Korea, you can see beautiful Joseon Dynasty Hwarot.
Especially, on November 25, 2023, the K-tiful Day event wil be held at Dohwaseogil D1(18, Yulgok-ro, Jongno-gu) near Anguk Station to enjoy Korea’s Christmas.
You can see an exhibition of five intangible cultural heritage. And the Korean mask dance performance, which can only be seen in Andong, can also be seen in Seoul on this day only.
If you are planning to travel to Seoul on that day, I recommend visiting the K-tiful Day.

Centrally-located tourist-friendly neighborhood The neighborhood of Insadong itself is an amazing location! If you are an international tourist, I recommend choosing lodging here, as this is super convenient to many sightseeing spots (See my review of The Prima Hotel in Insadong). 3 historic palaces, 2 UNESCO heritage sites, the Cheonggyecheon urban stream, and several charming villages are within walking distance from this area! The main shopping and dining street, Insadong Culture Street, is very tourist friendly. The main street itself can get busy during the afternoon, and the while there are many restaurants, they also seemed to get very busy. I enjoyed the variety of food and shopping options. The only potential downside is how "touristy" it can sometimes feel. If you want a slightly more authentic, charming Korean experience, check out some other neighborhoods like Ikseon-dong Hanok Village, which is right next to Insadong. Overall, I would recommend staying here for the convenience and it's still worth visiting for the variety.

Quaint and Lovely Insadong I love Insadong quaint market - the small hallways that leads you to unique stores is a refreshing scenery from the busy streets of Myeondong and other shopping districts. Insadong-gil street, Seoul Nice street, worth visiting. Some tea shops and a few places sell ceramics that you may not find anywhere else. Prices on Isadon-gil street are a little bit high than on side streets but they tend to have better choices.
Dragon Beard:
For anyone looking to purchase Dragon Beard from the street sellers, be advised that the product should be consumed within 2-3 days (not 2-3 months). We tried some from the vendor we bought them from and it was good and fun. By the time we returned home, the boxes we had bought (wrapped in plastic and protected from heat) were inedible: hard and lumpy - bad enough to break a tooth on.

Best place for souveniors! One of my favorite areas to shop! There's a shopping street lined with shops selling all kinds of traditional Korean crafts, gifts, and souvenir type items, and the prices were much lower than what you'd find in other areas. I particularly loved the little handcrafted purses. I bought several for my lady friends and they were the perfect size to fill with face masks and other goodies.
There is a fun and lovely three story shopping center called 'SS' with bright yellow walls that features a ton of super fun art installations and a lot of really cool shops. I visited this location several times because it was so cool and I loved the shops. At the top of it is the infamous 'poop; themed cafe where you can get a variety of toilet inspired desserts. It wasn't for me but I enjoyed giving it a peek. This area is definitely a must-visit if you like art and/or like to shop.

We like walking in this area We visit this each time we visit Seoul as there are some nice shops here. The only one I avoid is the official tourist place (can't think of the name) because you are hounded the minute you enter the door. Too bad as it is fun to look around here. Other shops are not like that. My husband especially likes the art supply shops.

Korean charm The neighborhood offers a blend of traditional Korean charm with a modern twist. The vibe here is a nice balance between touristy and authentic, but can be too crowded on the weekend.

Definitely a worthwhile visit.

good to go Touristy street with some interesting handicrafts and souvenirs. There is a relatively new shopping block nestled within the street - it has a huge Kakao & Friends store at its entrance. The 4-storey building with graffiti is also interesting.

Must see Great place to go with family with kids. Lots of Artsy shops with crafts if kids want to keep busy. The prices are a bit higher than other shopping areas in Seoul but still relatively reasonable.

Pleasant Walking Street This is a nice neighborhood style shopping area. If weather is cooling, it’s a good half day walk through shops, cafe and restaurants.

Insadong, street food, cafe, palace and temples. Insadong is the place to stay close to temples, markets, endless cafe, street food, palace. Good & safe for walking and seeing the best of Korea. The Moxy Hotel where I stayed is central and close to everywhere.

Insadong I really like Insadong, not as crowded as Hongdae. What I like the most was it's ambience, artsy and peaceful. I went to Ssamzigil and it was really nice place! Instagramable and pretty.

Great Neighborhood You can find a great deal to do in the bustling neighborhood. There are museums, palaces, temples, and shopping all within easy walking distance. We stayed in two different parts of Insadong and it was a perfect spot for our time in Seoul.

This is a street full with art galleries, cafes and shopping centres This is a street full with art galleries, cafes and shopping centres that is interesting to some folks. There is also a vintage shop at one end of the street which sells really nice second hand clothes but prices are on the higher side. To be honest, other than the cafes, Insadong is not for everyone.

Near one of the palace and near the subway. Accessible to a lot of places. Very easy to move around.

Nice Walk to Feel a Daily Korean Life Too many shops, too little time (and money). I went there for a week, to feel a typical tourist in Korea. It was so good, met my expectations. Less crown compared to Myeongdong.

Could've been good Insadong used to be an artistic/artisnal haven before it became overy homogenized and dull. There is still the occasional good stuff in the back alleys (food mainly), but the main strip is tourist only traps.

Nice Area for a Stroll and to do some Shopping Nice area with a lot of side streets to explore for shopping and also eating. Nice shops with various cultural items for sale, embroidery, jewelry, traditional clothing as well as a few street food vendors. There are plenty of places to eat scattered throughout. It is worth a visit.

Quaint and Lovely Insadong I love Insadong quaint market - the small hallways that leads you to unique stores is a refreshing scenery from the busy streets of Myeondong and other shopping districts. The area also has restaurants and coffee shops that showcases delicious food - a resting place too if you wish to take a rest from going around. Somehow, it connects to Ssamziegil which also has a lot of shops - souvenirs, clothing, food and everything.

Good street to walk about Insadong is not only a district but also a well known street that has a bit if everything. Has restaurants and quaint little shops to buy and see. Some of the prices were high in comparison to the Namdaemun Market. Us good to walk about and visit the stores

Major shopping, dining, lodging & entertainment area Lots of locally made crafts, decorative covid face masks, Korean pottery, a host of souvenir items, and other things are sold in the Insadong area.

The best place to feel the beauty of Korea Insadong was a place where we could feel the traditional beauty of Korea.
And Ssamji-gil in Insadong was a really beautiful place.
There were colorful lanterns everywhere.
I went to a cafe in Ikseon-dong nearby, and it was a remodeled hanok. I could feel the beauty of Hanok very well.
